Do you ever wonder why babies have soft and smooth skin? This is because people are born with good skin but because of time and environment it becomes wrinkled and saggy. That is why taking good care of our skin is very important if you want to age gracefully and beautifully.
The cells travel from the subcutaneous tissue to the epidermis. They move continuously and flake off when reaching the top. Because of aging the outer skin or epidermis becomes thinner because less collagen is produced. This can cause the skin to lose its elasticity making it sag and wrinkle.
Aging also causes the decrease of sweat glands leading to a more dry skin. Cells in the innermost part also become smaller contributing more to the sags and wrinkles. Adding up to that is the UVA and UVB rays of the sun that makes the epidermis thin. Sunrays make the collagen breakdown faster that is why our skin becomes even drier.
Aside from these sweat glands also decreases over time causing dry skin. As people grow older the cells in the innermost layer of the skin becomes smaller adding more to the sags and wrinkles. There are also the UVA and UVB radiation from the sun that you need to consider when taking care of the skin. When all of these sum up and we do not do anything to help skin from sagging, just imagine what will happen to us.
Cleansers that are liquid based are much better to use, since they have moisturizers and Vitamin E with them. Do not use the traditional bar soap since it can make the skin dry out easily. Always use moisturizers; it helps maintain the elasticity of the skin. Heavy moisturizers are advised at nights and thinner ones at day.
Water helps a lot in hydrating the skin, so you need to drink plenty of water everyday; it also helps the body to function well. Water helps moisturize the skin naturally. Keeping all these good habits will help you age gracefully.
